Added BurnMyTokens before without a key? Claude Code uses the entry closest to your folder: one saved for that folder, or in a project's .mcp.json, wins over this one, and the key is ignored without a word. Remove the old entries first (claude mcp remove burnmytokens -s local, -s project, -s user); claude mcp get burnmytokens shows which one is used. Terminal says claude is not recognised? On Windows it is usually in %USERPROFILE%\.local\bin\claude.exe.
VS Code, in your user MCP settings (Command Palette → MCP: Open User Configuration) or in a project's .vscode/mcp.json. The key is not in it: VS Code asks for it the first time the server starts and keeps it in its secret storage, so the file is safe to commit.
Cursor, in ~/.cursor/mcp.json in your home folder, never in a project's .cursor/mcp.json: this one holds the key.
Gemini CLI takes the same header with --header, Codex with bearer_token_env_var in its config. Claude on the web and ChatGPT cannot send a header: there, open the link your AI shows when a game starts.
